Early voting for the New York City primaries is underway and runs through June 22.

On the first day of early voting, the Board of Elections reported that more than 2,600 Bronx residents cast their ballots.

Voters are choosing candidates for mayor, borough president, comptroller, public advocate and City Council.

This election uses ranked choice voting, allowing voters to rank up to five candidates in order of preference.

Abena Roman, of Clason Point, expressed support for ranked-choice voting after heading to the polls on Sunday.

“More than one person can be really good…You still feel like you had a voice in it,” she said.

Voters who are unable to go to the polls in person can still vote by mail by requesting an early mail ballot from the Board of Elections.
