An Ossining police officer is now being called a hero, after he quickly sprang into action responding to a call about a choking baby.

Officer Daniel Potignano, a father of three, knows that every second matters for this sort of call.

"There is no time to waste. You just go," he said.

Potignano quickly jumped into action and began patting the baby's back. Within seconds, the baby begins to breathe again.

After a quick trip to the hospital for evaluation, 10-month-old Arthur is back home.

"I just, I don't know what happened for a few seconds," said Arthur's mom, Arzualy Rueda.

Rueda says that this is one of the many hospital visits for Arthur. She says he's been having seizures.

"It's been a lot for everybody. You know, for me and my fiancee, we're holding it together, but it's very hard," said Rueda.

Rueda says she's so grateful for the quick response from the Ossining Police Department.

Many are now labeling Potignano as a hero.

"I don't really see it that way. The whole point is to react, remain calm and get the job done," he says.

Due to all the unforeseen medical expenses, Rueda has started a GoFundMe.
