Police are warning Hudson Valley vehicle owners about catalytic converter thefts and tires being stolen.
Local auto repair shops are also noticing the same trend, including Sal's Auto Services Inc.
“They had it done in May and they just came back," says Joe Cermele, who is with the auto repair shop.
Cermele says a customer recently came in who had their catalytic converter stolen for a second time.
In Port Chester, police say they’ve seen about four catalytic converter thefts so far this year and seven reports of stolen license plates.
In Mount Vernon, officials say seven vehicles have been stolen since Jan. 1.
“You got to be alert, watch where you park," says Tony, who lives in Mount Vernon.
Over in Yonkers, a report just came in this week of a car that had its wheels and tires stolen on Mile Square Road.
Some advice from officers around the Hudson Valley includes parking in well-lit areas, making sure to always lock up and reporting anything suspicious.
