        Officials unveil first concepts of possible improvements to Cross Bronx Expressway

        After years of concern about pollution in the area around the road, part of these concepts include capping the roadway by putting land for public use above it.

        A $2 million federal grant funded a study that started in December 2022 to ‘re-invent’ the long-criticized roadway.
        After years of concern about pollution in the area around the road, part of these concepts include capping the roadway by putting land for public use above it.
        A series of three community workshops are next, the first of which is Wednesday, Oct. 23 in Morris Heights.
        City DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez says he hopes the information gathering part of the project is done by the end of 2024, budgeting would come next.
