Multiple families had their Thanksgiving dinners interrupted when a fire forced several buildings in Brooklyn Heights to be evacuated, according to the FDNY.

Officials say they responded to a call on Remsen Street shortly after noon Tuesday, where a manhole fire under a car spread to the fourth floor of a neighboring apartment building.

Firefighters also found high carbon monoxide levels in two nearby buildings.

Power was turned off in the three affected buildings and families were evacuated, but first responders did save some holiday meals.

"One of the buildings has extremely high carbon monoxide levels," FDNY Deputy Chief Stephen Corcoran said, "We were able to go in and save their Thanksgiving dinner and pack up their food for them."

No injuries were reported, according to the FDNY.

Families that were impacted shared that they're grateful to gather for the holiday, regardless of the change in plans.

"We have our sweet potatoes, we have our turkey," Diana Deutsch said, who had to leave her apartment, "and instead of serving our turkey here, we're going to bring it over to my son."

The FDNY believes the cause of the initial fire was electrical.
