Officials are responding to a major water main break in Stratford Tuesday, Mayor David Chess says.
Chess says the break involves a 30-inch water transmission main break on Huntington road north of the Merritt Parkway. Police say the road is closed to all traffic between 2810 Huntington Rd and 3300 Huntington Road.
Trumbull officials say the break is also impacting their town.
Emergency crews from Aquarion Water Department, Stratford Public Works are on scene along with police, fire and emergency management.
Residents might experience low water pressure and temporary water service interruptions.
As of 2:40 p.m., Aquarion said service should be restored in 10 to 12 hours.
Chess says there is currently no boil water advisory in effect.
People are asking to avoid the area and use alternative routes and conserve water whenever possible while repairs are underway.
