        Officials: Deer rescued from an icy Saugatuck River in Westport

        The Fairfield County Regional Dispatch center received a call just before 7 a.m. that a deer was trapped.

        A trapped deer was rescued from the ice on the Saugatuck River in Westport Wednesday, fire officials say.
        The Fairfield County Regional Dispatch center received a call just before 7 a.m. that a deer was trapped.
        Video from Westport Fire Department:
        Westport firefighters responded and found the deer stuck in the ice near the Post Road.
        Members of the department's rescue company were able to enter the river and successfully remove the deer.
        Officials say the deer was able to walk away into a wooded area.
