Nassau fire officials say two people have died in a fire at an apartment in Hempstead.
The fire broke out at a home on Albermarle Avenue around 4:02 a.m.
The fire marshal’s office identified the victims as an adult and a child.
Approximately 60 firefighters responded to the scene. One firefighter was evaluated for an ankle/foot injury.
The Red Cross has been requested to assist 10 residents and one dog displaced by the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s and the police arson/bomb squad.
