Yonkers fire officials say nine firefighters were sent to the hospital after battling a fire in a three-story six-family house Sunday night.
The call came in just after 10:30 p.m. for heavy fire on the third floor of 122 Downing St.
The building next door at 120 was in danger of catching fire so they went to a second alarm to protect that building.
All the people living in 122 got out safely, but the fire became too intense, and crews had to pull out of the building and fight the flames from the outside.
No word on the cause of the fire, and fire officials tell News12 that none of the firefighters that went to the hospital suffered any serious injuries.
