Six corrections officers were injured during a fight with an inmate at the Cheshire Correctional Institution Monday, a Department of Correction official says.
An official says the incident began just before 9 p.m. when officers found contraband in the man's cell. They say the man punched two officers in the face and acted aggressively toward the other officers.
Four officers were taken to the hospital to be treated while the other two remained on duty.
State police are investigating the incident. The department's interim commissioner says a review is also being conducted to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
The man has not been identified.
