A 63-year-old Marlboro woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated and striking a special police officer who was directing traffic near a disabled vehicle Friday night.

The crash happened around 7:28 p.m. Sept. 25 at the intersection of Route 520 and Tennent Road. The officer was directing traffic near a disabled vehicle when a white 2023 Audi Q7 struck them. Emergency medical services transported the officer to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital for treatment.

Police identified the driver as Dolores Santoro, 63, of Marlboro. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated, having an open container of alcohol and reckless driving following a roadside investigation.

The police department did not provide additional information on the officer's condition.
