Residents in Ocean County rushed to their local hardware stores to stock up on supplies ahead of the first snowfall of 2025.
Meteorologists say South Jersey could see some of the most snowfall not seen in years throughout the area.
News 12 stopped by Kens Hardware in Toms River on Saturday where many shoppers were stocking up on all the essentials.
The shelves were packed with rock salt, sleds, shovels, and snow brushes.
The owner said he's been busy for the past couple of days as the forecast continues to change.
Ocean County officials were also preparing. "We're partnering with our local OEM coordinators and local police chiefs...The road department gets out there, and they treat the roadways and the state. All those things are in place and are ready. They haven't activated in the last couple of years, but we're sure all of our partners are ready for this," said Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardi.
Ocean County officials say they have a meeting with the state on Sunday to discuss their snow plan - which includes staffing and what areas are expected to get hit the hardest.
