Authorities in Ocean County have released 911 recordings from two shootings in Bayville last month. The incidents involved a man targeting his neighbors.
Dispatchers can be heard on the recordings trying to assess the situation and keep one of the shooting victims calm.
The 911 calls were first made around 5 p.m. on March 10
A dispatcher with Ocean County, who had been speaking with shooting victim Jill Kwatkoski, brings in a Berkely Township dispatcher to help.
The Ocean County dispatcher is heard saying that her neighbor shot her and her husband three times, possibly with a rifle. She also told the dispatcher that she was shot in the leg and thought her husband was dead.
Police say that moments earlier, neighbor John Adamo used a rifle to first shoot Tom Kwatkoski, who was standing on a ladder outside. They say that Adamo then targeted Jill inside her own home.
Police would soon make their way into the Drake Drive home and the couple would be airlifted to the hospital. After a two-hour standoff with the Adamo in a house one door over, police say they found him in his home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Neighbors have said that the two families had a running feud and that Adamo was angered by new surveillance cameras the victims had installed to face Adamo’s house.
Those cameras were fronted by a "No Trespassing" sign that called him out by name.
