A family of three has been left homeless following a late-night house fire on West Oakland Avenue that required firefighters to push through heavy smoke and zero-visibility conditions
Oakland Fire Department crews arrived on scene to find heavy flames pouring from the rear of the residence.
Firefighters made entry through the front door, pushing through thick, blinding smoke to locate and extinguish the blaze.
The department credited mutual aid support from neighboring communities for assisting at the scene.
Red Cross New Jersey responded to the scene to assist a displaced family of three. The Red Cross Disaster Action Team is providing emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food, clothing, and immediate needs, alongside health and mental health support services.
