        NYPD: Teenage sisters pulled from Coney Island waters die at hospital

        The victims were identified by a police as 18-year-old Aisha Mohammad and 17-year-old Zinab Mohammad.

        Two sisters died Friday following a search and rescue operation in the waters off Coney Island, the NYPD says.
        Officials told News 12 that the first call of swimmers in distress happened just after 8 p.m. Friday at the beach across from Stillwell Avenue.
        Police say more than an hour after that first call, divers removed two females from the water. They were later pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital.
        The victims were identified by a police as 18-year-old Aisha Mohammad and 17-year-old Zainab Mohammad.
        Danny Gines says he was on the beach during as rescuers searched the water. He says the family of the victims were also there.
        "All the emergency workers, everybody working together,” he said.
        Lifeguards are on duty at city beaches from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
