NYC woman allegedly busted with cocaine during traffic stop in Rye
A New York City woman was allegedly busted with cocaine during a traffic stop in the city of Rye, according to New York State Police.
Alejandra Herrera, 36, of Queens, was taken into custody Thursday around 10:30 p.m. on the New York State Thruway.
Investigators say they stopped Herrera for alleged traffic violations. During the stop, officers located multiple plastic baggies inside her car, which contained around 21.5 grams of suspected cocaine.
Police arrested Herrera, who they say was the only person in the car at the time.
Herrera was taken to New Rochelle for processing and was later arraigned in Rye City Court and released.
She was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and felony criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.
She also received multiple citations for traffic law violations.
Herrera is expected back in court on Oct. 20.
