Thursday night's plunging temperatures have prompted New York City Emergency Management to declare a Code Blue across the city.
The Code Blue will be in effect from Thursday 4 p.m. until Friday 8 a.m.
Emergency Management says outreach teams will be out throughout the five boroughs to connect vulnerable New Yorkers to shelters.
It also says any New Yorker who is homeless looking for shelter will not be denied.
Emergency Management also encourages New Yorkers who see individuals whom they believe are homeless and in need to contract 311 via phone or mobile app to request outreach assistance.
The New York City Department of Homeless Services says accommodations are available for walk-ins.
