The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced Tuesday that New Yorkers with SNAP benefits are eligible for free admission into the center. Museum officials say a free membership program is being offered to the 1.7 million New York city residents that rely on food assistance. This is all in an effort to ensure that families have access to free cultural experiences under heavy economic strain. This comes as thousands of New Yorkers could lose access to SNAP benefits due to new federal work requirements.
