Thousands of New York’s political leaders traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for one of the biggest political conferences of the year.

The 40th annual SOMOS Conference is a chance for elected officials, advocates and community leaders to connect and discuss problems impacting the New York region and Puerto Rico.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani was in attendance and spoke about how the two communities can grow stronger together.

“We view the bond between our city and Puerto Rico as an unbreakable one, one that also requires us to share as much as we can across government officials,” the mayor said.
