Norwalk hosted its first Black Heritage Parade in 27 years on Saturday.
The event's organizer, Mellodye "Sweets" Green-Ragin, said the parade was "long overdue."
Green-Ragin said the parade celebrated and highlighted the achievements and positive presence of the Black community in Norwalk.
Several streets were blocked off as the procession wound through SoNo.
"It was a big success, and we are so grateful for everybody who turned out," Green-Ragin said.
