A strike by nurses at South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore has possibly been averted.
The New York State Nurses Association tells News 12 that nurses reached a tentative agreement with management yesterday.
The union says the tentative deal improves safe staffing standards and includes a pay increase, retirement bonuses and improvements to retiree health care.
The deal would avoid a looming March 17 strike deadline.
Over 900 nurses will vote on whether to ratify the contract this Friday.
