The North Salem Theater Department brought the underwater world of “The Little Mermaid” to life with a vibrant spring musical featuring a cast of sixth- to twelfth-grade students and a dedicated backstage crew, showcasing dazzling costumes, lively choreography, and powerful voices.

The production took an unexpected turn when award-winning composer and North Salem resident Alan Menken, who wrote the music for “The Little Mermaid,” surprised the cast during rehearsal.

Menken praised the students’ passion and talent, telling them their performance is part of the legacy that keeps these stories alive.
