NJ Health Department confirms case of measles in Hudson County

The exact location of the case was not provided, but officials said that it does not appear to be related to an Ocean County measles case reported last week.
Health officials say that there are eight locations throughout northern New Jersey that the patient visited, possibly exposing others to the virus.

People who were exposed to the virus could develop symptoms as late as Aug. 2 if they are infected.
Health officials say that the virus is easily spread through the air when someone coughs or sneezes and can remain in the air up to two hours after an infected person leaves the area. Symptoms include a high fever, cough, runny nose, watery red eyes, and a rash that usually appears between three and five days after symptoms begin.
The Health Department is urging people to stay up to date on their vaccines.
