With just over two weeks to go until the New Jersey gubernatorial election, the race is heating up.
Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill has just picked up an endorsement from former President Barack Obama, who appeared in digital ads for Sherrill’s campaign.
Another big topic in the race is President Donald Trump saying he will “terminate” the multibillion-dollar
Gateway Project – the rail tunnel to link New Jersey to Manhattan.
Sherrill says she will take Trump to court over the issue.
Meanwhile, Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli says he will work with the president to get the job done.
"This is a critically important project. I think it's the quintessential federal infrastructure project and I think what the president is doing right now is playing hardball negotiations with the Democrats in Congress, who are not signing onto a continual resolution to open up the government,” Ciattarelli said on News 12’s “Ask the Candidate” program.
The government shutdown has been going on for two weeks.
