Gov. Kathy Hochul traveled to Long Island Friday on the Long Island Rail Road. She left from Grand Central Madison and arrived at Jamaica, where she switched to the 8:29 a.m. train traveling to Syosset.

News 12's Rich Barrabi spoke with the governor about congestion pricing. Barrabi asked her about the new plan, what it means for Long Islanders and why she decided to pause - and then unpause - the controversial program.

Hochul defended the policy, saying it will serve the majority of Long Island, as well as ensure the LIRR will be in place and will be improved for years to come.

The governor also addressed the issue of safety on the trains, specifically on the subway. She laid out plans to improve safety, including adding cameras, law-enforcement personnel and addressing the mental health crisis.
