Members of News 12 Westchester gathered at Westchester Community Health Center in Mount Vernon on Wednesday to distribute free book bags alongside various community organizations.

Going back to school can be an exciting time for kids and parents alike, but it can also be a stressful time.

So, News 12 is helping to take some of that stress away and celebrate YOU!

Around 450 backpacks with school supplies, water bottles, and snacks were distributed to families in the Mount Vernon community.

A spokesperson for the Community Health Center says they want residents to know they're here year-round, offering services such as back-to-school physicals, vaccinations, and more.

Wednesday's event is just one of several backpack drives News 12 is hosting across the tri-state area to help families get ready for the first day of school.
