McGorry told News 12 that an acquaintance of the family saw the segment and reached out after learning about her long struggle with two chronic liver diseases.
The viewer, who is currently anonymous, quietly went through the testing process and discovered they were a perfect match.
They later called McGorry with the news, which she then shared with her former newsroom.

McGorry has spent most of her life living with autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis, also known as PBC, both conditions that cause permanent liver damage.
