Alright, it is all about the kids today with the New York Red Bulls. It is their 3rd annual Weather Education Day hosted by our very own Lauren Duke, and she's getting the day started early at the Sports Illustrated stadium. So Lauren, let's check in with you. I see you're matching the mascot there. You got the right colors on. I know I totally do, but you know what Red? I think I need to get on your level because you're a little dressed up, right? and you're gonna, you're gonna hook me up with some Red Bull swag, right? Let's do it. OK, so we got that you guys this might be one of my hardest interviews because Red does not talk so this is gonna be all me talking. OK, we gotta put on the scarf which looks amazing. This is the new scarf, yeah, we're also at the newly named Sports Illustrated stadium. It is the same thing, same place, it's all in Harrison. And today red is Weather Education Day, so these stands are gonna be filled with hundreds of kids all from 1st to 5th grade, and they're gonna learn all about weather with a little bit of soccer going on. So to help me do that, we have red here. So red this morning because it is spring break, maybe there's some kids getting ready for school, right? Let's show everyone what a tornado looks like. What does a tornado look like? Yeah, right there. OK, now it's a really windy day. He's blowing away. It's pouring rain, red pouring rain. He has his umbrella. OK, what does it mean when you try to kick the ball though and it's raining? Is it hard? It's so hard to do that. OK, Red. OK, well, maybe we need to get some more people that could talk, maybe some players, right? We'll have players here. We're also gonna have the magic. Scientists who's gonna do some demonstrations for the kids so that that fun is happening today but you know what, if you want to take part in the fun, you totally can this weekend it is kids day. They are matching off with Montreal, so hopefully the Red Bulls take it home. We'll see you down here. We're gonna be hanging out in Harrison today. Lauren Dune is New Jersey.

It is all, yes, about the kids today with the New York Red Bulls. It's their 3rd annual Weather Education Day hosted by our own Lauren D. Yeah, she's joining us from the Sports Illustrated stadium right now, and Lauren, they really want to focus on building a strong foundation with kids. Yeah, totally. And just to give you my prerequisite, I played soccer and I'm pretty sure every single kid in New Jersey must have played soccer at some point. So let's talk to the man himself, Dave Jervis. You are the head of New York Red Bulls youth programs. How long have you been doing this quite a few years, about 24 to be specific. OK, and how big is the Red Bull's program for the kids? Yeah, well, as you know, New Jersey. hotbed for soccer in general, such a big history, so we cater to around 45,000 boys and girls ages 3 through 18. We're in around 120 communities in the tri-state area and many of those programs are right here in New Jersey. Wow, that's amazing. And what do you look for when these kids come in? Yeah, so I think we want the kids first of all, we want to teach them fundamentally. Skills we want to make sure they're having a great time and I think also additionally they all get a free ticket to come to a Red Bulls game. So we get them to come out here. They have a great time outside the stadium. We have a lot of youth interaction in the stadium. We have a lot of great experiences as well. And some of the players that are on the field right now came up through this program. Yeah, absolutely. So a big part of what we do is also The identification and development of players, so our academy program has a long, long history. It developed we call them homegrown players, so a homegrown player is somebody that starts within our youth programs and academy and comes all the way through. So we have a long history and tradition of bringing homegrown players through. So right now we have 10 homegrown players on the roster, which is, um, you know, one of the biggest in in Major League soccer. And um right here from New Jersey, uh we have uh 5 players that have grown up in New Jersey, you know, not far from this uh this stadium. You want to give some some of them a shout out, you know, Daniel Edderman, uh, who's from, uh, uh, Warren, Peter Stroud, from from Chester, Roy Max right up here from Montclair as well, Serge Noma, uh, from North Brunswick, so. A lot of local players that have come through the system and we have one of the biggest footprints from a youth platform standpoint in the whole of professional sports in North America. Dave, thank you so much inspiring kids for for decades now, so we really appreciate that. That's awesome. Come down and check us out. There's Kids' Day happening this Saturday. Yes, people, all about the kids today with the New York Red Bulls. Yeah, we're taking a live look outside at Harrison, where the team is holding their 3rd annual Weather Education Day hosted by our own News Twelve's Lauren D. She is joining us from the Sports Illustrated stadium, what it's called now. Lauren, they really want to focus on building a strong foundation with the kids. They do and I can't wait to host weatheration Day today. There's going to be over hundreds of students here all 1 through 5th grade and really the fun doesn't stop today. It goes into Saturday. Let's bring in. you are the you oversee all the entertainment and the game events. So what is happening on Saturday? This is a pretty big deal. Yeah, we're really excited for Saturday. It's an early game, so perfect time to bring out. amazing. Like I just see bedtime, right? Yeah, red agrees. Bedtime is after that. That's perfect timing. So the fun begins for the whole family about one o'clock so you can come to the boulevard early, and we'll have a bunch of activations on the boulevard catered to the kids. So it's all about the kids. We have face painting, roaming glitter artists, we have balloon art. We have photo booths, and then even an animal show at the crossbar. And the 1st 1, 10,000 fans are going to get these fun shoe charms presented by Hack and Meridians they are so perfect for Red Bulls. I love it. And you know, the boulevard is every game, but the kids' day is special and that's why you need to go so you can get all those special features. Yeah, I always love seeing the kids running around with their face paint, and they're always so excited. We have a sign making station presented by Hackensack Meridian Health. As well, so the kids can go and make their messages to patients, pediatric patients, but also for the team. So that's so cute. It's so much fun having right out here. We just talked to Dave who's really in charge of all the youth sports here, and I mean the Red Bulls really does like to focus on the kids. Yeah, we're a family friendly environment, so we're all about the kids, but this game specifically, we're focused on them. They take over the game. So once you get in. Um, after the boulevard, the game will be completely run by the children, so we have a kid PA announcer, a kid host, a kid DJ who will be rocking in at halftime, and a kid national anthem singer, of course.
