New Providence Police Department temporarily relocates headquarters
The New Providence Police Department is temporarily moving its operations to a new location as construction begins on a long-term police facility.
Starting immediately, the police department will operate out of 1 Academy Street. Members of the public visiting the temporary facility are instructed to use the main entrance directly on Academy Street. Entrances off Springfield Avenue and through the parking lot will not be open for public access.
The temporary site will remain the primary hub for police personnel until the permanent headquarters is constructed. Borough officials expect the new building to be completed and fully occupied by fall 2028.
Department leaders emphasized that the temporary move will allow officers and administrative staff to continue providing full police services to the community without interruption.
