New Jerseyans are among thousands of Americans who are stuck in the Middle East as the Iran War intensifies.

The State Department has urged Americans to leave the Middle East immediately; however, there are no commercial flights from the countries impacted.

Mikie Sherrill is asking New Jersey residents abroad to contact Sen. Cory Booker, Sen. Andy Kim, or members of Congress.

Meanwhile, the federal government is coming up with a plan to get everyone out.

“It will be a variety of methods — charter flights, military flights and transports, expanded commercial opportunities and in some cases land routes that will allow them to go to neighboring countries who might have open airports at that point,” said Marco Rubio, secretary of state. “So it’s a lot of different things here that need to happen in order to move people, but it all starts by knowing that you’re there.”

The Department of State is asking Americans in the Middle East to request emergency assistance by calling 202-501-4444.
