More than three weeks without rain is taxing the region's water supply and enhancing the threat of fires to develop and spread.

This record-tying dry stretch could have implications for next year's growing season.

Friday was Day 26 without collecting a drop of rain in our rain gauges. This ties a record that has stood for 75 years! We will break the record tomorrow and continue on this unfortunate dry streak for at least another week.

The weather pattern we are in allows for dry air to remain overhead and storms steer up and over the state or stay south. There is no in-between.

TONIGHT: Some clouds collect. Temperatures cool off to the low- and mid-40s.

WEEKEND: Sunny skies and slightly milder. Highs around 68 degrees. Winds will pick up through the day and into Saturday night this will bring a reinforcing shot of chillier air into the region for Sunday and early next week.

MONDAY: Lows Monday morning heading back to work and school will likely be in the 30s and frost could be an issue in some communities.
