It is now the “dog days of summer” as temperatures in New Jersey rise well into the 90s.
Many New Jersey residents trying to beat the extreme heat headed out to area splash parks and the Jersey Shore to get an early start to their weekend.
News 12 spoke to two siblings who came to Asbury Park for the beach, but ended up at the splash park instead.
“The beach is always so sandy and I get uncomfortable,” says Asher Perlman.
“Here the beach is a little colder and this is super nice…here is so nice to cool off,” says Betty Perlman.
The splash park on Second Avenue is open seven days a week.
