Attorney General Jennifer Davenport announced on Tuesday that her office alongside the Division on Civil Rights (DCR) has renewed enforcements that will protect New Jerseyans from housing discrimination and expand housing opportunities.

This renewal effort is aimed at helping drive down the cost of housing in New Jersey.

Attorney General Davenport noted enforcement actions in 25 matters that include housing discrimination based on prior criminal history, source of lawful income discrimination and mortgage redlining.

The DCR will handle issuing penalties against these housing providers.

This announcement comes days ahead of the new state law that will require a $50 cap on rental application fees.
