New details are emerging about the events leading up to the fatal police-involved shooting of a 17-year-old in Wappingers Falls.
State investigators said officers spent about 50 minutes trying to speak with Oscar Granados Colindres after responding to a report of a person in distress Saturday morning near the Wappingers Creek Bridge.
Granados Colindres allegedly ran toward at least one officer while holding a knife, state investigators said.
Multiple officers then opened fire.
Granados Colindres was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Office of the Attorney General said officers were responding to a call about a person in distress.
The Attorney General's Office is continuing its review of the shooting, as required in all fatal police-involved shootings.
