Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and Commissioner of Police Patrick Ryder will hold a news conference Tuesday morning on school safety, after a surge in threats.
The most recent threat at Willow Road Elementary School in Franklin Square forced the building into a lockdown, and three others into a lockout last week.
The superintendent said they received a threat of a man with a gun outside the school. Police responded within minutes and found the threat to be non-credible.
Later this morning, county officials will explain what goes into stopping those threats and protecting more than 400 schools across Nassau.
News 12 is expected to learn about the training and resources available to law enforcement in these situations.
Since the beginning of August, Nassau County police say there have been 80 threats against schools in the county.
Suffolk County has also seen its share of threats. Police say there have been 32 since the beginning of August.
