People are gathering at The Rising In Valhalla today to honor the Westchester victims of the September 11th attacks.
The memorial was dedicated in 2006 on the fifth anniversary of 9/11.
Families of the victims chose both the location and the design, created by architect Fredrick Swartz.
Visitors can step inside the structure and look through steel beams that rise 80 feet into the sky. At the base is the Circle of Remembrance, with stones bearing each victim's name and a family inscription.

In 2021, a new section was added to honor those who died due to their time working at Ground Zero. This year, more names were added, bringing the total to 88.
The site also includes a beam from the Twin Towers and the Fallen Memorial Walkway, which honors Westchester soldiers and Marines killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Westchester County officials will hold their annual memorial service at 3 p.m. today. Everyone is welcome to attend.
