First responders are combing through the rubble for an elderly man still unaccounted for after a fire devastated a home in Island Park early this morning.
Officials brought in heavy machinery to assist with the search and rescue efforts.
Crews first believed two elderly people were in the house at the time the fire started but later confirmed a woman suspected to be there was not.
Roughly 120 firefighters from 10 different departments responded to the three-alarm fire around 2 a.m.
It took first responders about 90 minutes to get the fire totally under control. It briefly spread to the home next door which suffered some exterior damage.
Nassau County police and fire marshals are conducting an investigation.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
