Many people walked out of the Coney Island Stillwell Avenue Station with hats, umbrellas and coolers in hand. Residents and tourists told News 12 they are beach ready, saying, "more trains are better," and "the more the merrier."
“This is my first time coming to the beach and I think it [train ride] was very quick so I think that’s great because in the summer we can spend more time coming here," another Brooklyn resident said.
Extended service will begin on July 6 and go through Sept. 3. In the middle of the day to the evening hours during the week, trains will now arrive every eight minutes. Enhancements are expected for weekends as well.
News 12's Daniella Rodriguez was at Coney Island and spoke with lots of people about what these changes mean to them.
