        MTA hit with lawsuit from elected officials, transit union over bus service cuts

        The MTA was expecting to get about $15 billion from this plan to fund various projects. For some riders, the cuts feel like another blow to their lengthy commutes.

        Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, the Transit Workers Union, New York City Comptroller Brad Lander and other city officials joined forces with residents to file a lawsuit against the MTA - that could affect commuters.
        The lawsuit calls out the organization for making bus service cuts without giving Mayor Eric Adams and the City Council the required 30-day notice before conducting non-emergency reductions to service.
        The lawsuit claims these cuts come after a halt to the controversial congestion pricing plan.
        The MTA was expecting to get about $15 billion from this plan to fund various projects. For some riders, the cuts feel like another blow to their lengthy commutes.
        Other tell News 12 their commutes always seem to be delayed and it is hard to decipher if these cuts are adding up or not.
        The MTA is fighting back to allegations -- referring News 12 to last year when they "successfully fought for an operating budget that... protected jobs and service."
