yesterdayMetropolitan Transportation Authority and elected officials gathered Saturday to unveil signs at the entrance to Manhattan's congestion relief zone a day before congestion pricing takes effect.
Transportation advocates and other supporters of reducing gridlock and pollution joined MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber at the unveiling.
The MTA says congestion pricing is a first in the nation approach to reduce car traffic in one of the world’s most heavily gridlocked areas.
E-ZPass users will pay a $9 toll to enter Manhattan south of 60th Street during the peak hours and $2.25 overnight.
Motorists who do not use E-ZPass will pay higher tolls.
