Traffic was backed up for hours Sunday morning near the Woodlawn train station after an MTA bus jumped a median and blocked most of the roadway.
Four lanes of traffic were reduced to one on Jerome Avenue as the bus sat stretched across the street. MTA sources said the driver missed a turn at Bainbridge and Jerome avenues and attempted to turn around farther down the road.
Authorities said a large mound of snow and the narrow roadway — not designed for U-turns — caused the bus to become stuck. The incident began around 6:30 a.m.
Drivers said the roadblock significantly delayed their morning commute, forcing some to arrive late to work.
The bus was later towed from the roadway. It was not immediately clear whether any passengers were on board at the time of the incident.
