A Mount Holly woman who killed her boyfriend in 2021 as he was trying to take her to rehab was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, according to Atlantic County prosecutors.

They say Tina Lewis, 35, pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter after running over her boyfriend Craig Everett in September 2021.

Officials say when Lewis and Everett arrived at Recovery Centers for America in Mays Landing, Lewis refused to go inside the rehabilitation center. That's when prosecutors say she reentered her vehicle from the passenger side and climbed into the driver seat, and she ultimately hit and ran over Everett.

Prosecutors say Lewis briefly stopped but then fled the scene and returned to RCA where they say she denied knowing what happened to Everett. They say Lewis's blood alcohol level was almost three times the legal limit.

An investigation revealed Everett suffered numerous skull fractures, a brain bleed, rib fractures, femoral fracture and a pelvic fracture. He died the following day.
