A Mount Eden mother says her 10-year-old son with special needs was left in a school bus on Thursday.
Porscha told News 12 her son Princton was found five hours later at a school bus depot.
The incident happened after Princeton got on the school bus at P.S. 54 in Tremont but was never dropped off at home.
Porscha said she called the school bus attendant, but they didn't know where her son was. They even questioned Porscha about sending Princeton to school that morning.
A few minutes later, the school bus attendant told Porscha her son was at a bus depot, where they station the buses for the evening.
"He's well, nothing has happened to him, but he's traumatized. He does not want to get back on the school bus. He doesn't want to be left alone. He doesn't want to go back to school," Porscha said.
Porsha filed a police report at the 44th Precinct and complaint with the Department of Education following the incident.
In a statement, the department told News 12, "Student safety is a top priority and incidents like this are completely unacceptable. Both attendants and drivers have been suspended pending an investigation and we are in contact with the family to provide additional supports where needed. We take these incidents seriously, will always hold our vendors accountable and, most importantly, ensure that all students arrive safely at their destinations."
