A motorcyclist was seriously injured after crashing into an iron fence in Bridgeport Saturday night, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.

Police say they received a report of a crash near Newfield Avenue and Beardsley Street around 9 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a motorcycle that had struck an iron fence.

The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Police closed the area to all traffic while officers investigated the crash.

It is unclear what led up to the crash.
