A Bronx community is mourning after police say a mother of three was stabbed to death inside her Concourse Village home Saturday.
Yesenia Hall, 42, died after being stabbed multiple times in the neck, stomach, and back. Loved ones describe her as kind and driven.
"She was very young, very ambitious, very bright, brilliant," said neighbor Kim Antonio.
Police say Hall's boyfriend,
Juan Rivas, 45, is charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child, among other charges.
According to the criminal complaint, three children were inside the home at the time of the attack. Hall's 16-year-old son was also stabbed and is recovering. Hall's daughter described watching her brother get stabbed, while the third child remained in his bedroom.
Neighbors said the violence has shaken the community and are calling for more awareness around domestic violence. Rivas pleaded not guilty at arraignment and is being held on Rikers Island. His next court date is Thursday.
