Morris County officials say they are investigating various reports of drones seen flying around the county Monday evening.
Officials said that various law enforcement officers out on patrol reported spotted drones flying in the sky.
They say that they are aware of the situation and are investigating the incidents.
“There is no known threat to public safety,” officials wrote in a statement.
Officials also warned the public about social media rumors spreading online about the drones.
“We encourage the public to be mindful that what they read online may not be accurate,” officials wrote.
The Federal Aviation Administration issued a statement Thursday afternoon about the reports.
"The FAA received reports of drone activity near Morris County, New Jersey, on Monday, Nov. 18. The FAA looked into the reports and did not find evidence of drone activity in the area. The agency shared the information about the reports with federal security partners," a spokesperson stated.
