If you want to spend the first unofficial summer weekend fishing, you don't have to leave Long Island to find one of the best spots in the country.

Montauk has been named the second-best fishing destination in the U.S. for Memorial Day 2026.

The newly released top 10 list was created by FishingBooker, a leading platform for booking fishing trips.

The online travel company based the rankings on internal booking demand, traveler interest, and destination-level accessibility.

“Known as ‘The End,’ Montauk has produced more state and world records than most anglers can name,” FishingBooker said.

By the end of May, the company says migrating striped bass and savage bluefish push through the currents and fluke settle into the sandy in-shore patches.

Chesapeake Bay, VA/MD was the only location ranked above Montauk, with spots in South Carolina, Florida, and Louisiana also making the list.
