The Fairfield Police Department, in coordination with the United States Coast Guard, is conducting a search for a missing person in the water off Penfield Beach.

The police department is asking the public to avoid the area and refrain from approaching responders so that search operations can continue safely and efficiently.

Officials say that additional information will be released as appropriate.
