A memorial blood drive was held at the Bernice Spreckman Community Center in Yonkers on Saturday to honor the late Sgt. Patrick Breen.
Breen died in December and was a beloved member of the Yonkers Police Department.
He was the son of Yonkers City Council Minority Leader Mike Breen.
He also was the brother of Sgt. Megan Bennett and brother-in-law of Sgt. Neville Bennett.
Breen joined the police department in 2008 and was promoted during the pandemic.
"Ironically, my son's demise was because of blood, not because of cancer, it was complications, but so having a blood drive is special because it's going to replace the blood that he was given," said Minority Leader Mike Breen.
