The Director of the Stamford Department of Health and Human Services says the presence of measles has been detected in wastewater. Jody Bishop-Pullan, RDH, BS, MPH says the samples were taken from a sewershed that serves Stamford and Darien. She says as of Tuesday, there have been no confirmed measles case reported to her department.

Bishop-Pullan says the samples may have come from an individual or multiple people traveling in the area or visiting as opposed to someone living in the community. She advises people to stay vigilant. Data from The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Wastewater Surveillance System also shows that measles have been detected in a sewershed near both communities in the weeks of Jan. 31, Feb. 7 and Feb. 14.
